There is often confusion about which travelers are from Canadian visa exempt countries for the purpose of entering Canada, and if so, whether they require an electronic travel authorization (ETA).
A List of Canadian Visa Exempt Countries
Travelers from the countries below are visa exempt and do not require a visa to enter Canada.
Although visa exempt, these travelers will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to board their flight to Canada. However, if entering Canada by land or sea, they will be both visa and ETA exempt.
Citizens and permanent residents of the United States do not require a visa or ETA to enter Canada.
